Mouse Testis Tissue
Fluorescence emission from a 30-micrometer section of mouse testis tissue stained with three fluorophores is presented in the digital image in this section. Nuclei in the tissue section were targeted with the nucleic acid probe DAPI (blue), which is bound to the cell DNA. In addition, the tissue was also simultaneously stained with Alexa Fluor 488 WGA (green) and Alexa Fluor 568 phalloidin (orange-red). Scientists have recently succeeded in reprogramming adult stem cells from the testes of mice into functional blood vessels and contractile cardiac tissue, offering a new foundation for the use of stem cells in organ regeneration studies.
